Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak in principle approved the 50% fifty per cent release of the Tobacco Development Cess for the relevant districts and the remaining amount would be released on need basis in a phase manner which would be brought to the provincial cabinet for final approval. He directed for the efficient utilization of tobacco development cess in different constituencies under the law. He was presiding over a meeting of the committee for the tobacco development cess utilization at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamsheddin, MPAs Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, Muhammad Arif and relevant administrative secretaries and others attended the meeting. The meeting was briefed about the different rates of tobacco, the legal position for the use of tobacco development cess and the distribution formula for different constituencies of the relevant districts etc. The meeting was briefed about the distribution and use of resources of the tobacco development cess under the annual development program. In the annual development program for 2017-18, allocations of 100 million have been made. The committee was also informed about the approval by the committee for the distribution of resources under the tobacco development cess in Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Buner, Nowshera, Malakand and Mansehra, however, the data was yet to be received and thereafter a clear picture for the distribution of resources in these districts could be drawn by the Provincial tobacco Board which would provide production data. Similarly, the Deputy Commissioners would collect constituency based data that would provide a clear picture of the distribution of resources in the relevant constituencies of the respective districts. ======
